FORT MYERS, FL
- Harvey Software announced today that its Computerized Parcel System
(CPS) shipping software is fully ready for the new US Postal Service®
rates and services being introduced on May 11, 2009. CPS lets
shippers use both domestic and international post office services to
their best advantage, including automatic rate shopping between all CPS
supported carriers and services. The post office is becoming very
attractive to small package shippers as an alterative to the other US
carriers, especially for residential shipments since there is no
residential delivery surcharge with the USPS®.
CPS lets shippers use both levels of Commercial price discounts, so
shippers will pay the lowest price for which they qualify. CPS shippers
using Endicia® will also enjoy significant international mail
discounts, making CPS a very effective postal shipping and manifest
system. All changes effective May 11th are included in CPS service
pack "E".
Changes most likely to affect shippers include:
New single-class domestic Parcel Post®
New prices for domestic First-Class Mail®, Media Mail,
Library Mail and Bound Printed Matter.
New prices for First-Class Mail International™
Delivery confirmation prices increase
"The new, single Parcel Post service is quite a change, and CPS is ready
to make this a smooth and easy change," said Steve Stevenson, Harvey
Software's Director of Sales. "It's only those who use a manifest or
online postage like Endicia who receive the commercial rate discounts.
And only online postage users receive international discounts. CPS
supports manifesting and online postage with Endicia, so CPS lets you
can ship any way the post office provides," Mr. Stevenson explained.
With the relatively high volume needed for manifesting, using CPS with
Endicia can save small volume shippers quite a bit by opening up the
Commercial discounts to them," Mr. Stevenson concluded.
CPS shipping software will support the new rates and services on their
effective dates. Information for CPS users about any last minute changes
for post office shipping is available at Harvey Software's CPS On-Line
Support site.
